The Las Vegas Raiders gave quarterback Derek Carr a three-year, $121.5 million extension, possibly as a reward for leading them to last season’s playoffs.
But he deserves that reward for putting up one of his best seasons while navigating a shaky situation with the Raiders.
With All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams joining the squad, Carr might even have a better 2022 campaign.
Yet despite putting up 4,804 yards and 23 touchdowns in 2021, some doubters are saying that he did not deserve such a contract.
After all, he hasn’t won a playoff game for the Raiders and threw 14 interceptions as well.
However, Carr has a fan in three-time All-Pro and six-time Pro Bowler Gerald McCoy.

Media personality Colin Cowherd painted the tumultuous situation Carr had to deal with, starting from Jon Gruden getting fired to Henry Ruggs III being removed from the team.
Amidst those distractions, the former Fresno State standout willed his team to a postseason berth.
That’s why McCoy had nothing but nice words for his teammate last year.
Raiders Poised For Another Postseason Run
“Anyone who knows me knows that I’ve always said that Derek Carr is underrated. You don’t have that many 4th quarter comebacks or game-winning drives and not be special,” the third overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft said.
“I just think he got a bad rep, a lot of bad situations around him. But he showed his resilience last year and I’m excited to see what he can do this year with that type of team around him,” McCoy added.
The Raiders could be on to something because aside from Adams, Carr can also target slot receiver Hunter Renfrow, who had a breakout campaign last year.
There’s also Darren Waller who is raring to bounce back after a disappointing season.
Therefore, Carr will have a chance to manifest that he is a special play-caller all along.
