There’s no shortage of football fans, analysts, and former players who shared their opinion regarding the latest statement by Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray.
Some are supportive of Murray’s intention of getting a hefty contract extension with the Cardinals.
Meanwhile, others criticize the quarterback’s search for a long-term deal before playing the fourth season of his rookie deal.
Murray and his agent, Erik Burkhardt, agree that he’s worth higher than the $5.5 million salary he’s due to receive.
However, former NFL placekicker Jay Feely shared his view regarding Murray’s actions.
Everything Kyler Murray & his team have done this offseason have worked against their desire for a new contract. How about put your head down & work, be humble about your deficiencies, & take steps to become a better QB. That shows leadership & a real desire to win a championship

Feely tweeted, “Everything Kyler Murray & his team have done this offseason have worked against their desire for a new contract. How about put your head down & work, be humble about your deficiencies, & take steps to become a better QB. That shows leadership & a real desire to win a championship.”
Feely played 14 seasons in the NFL, four of which were with the Cardinals.
Two Sides Of The Story
No one can quantify whether Murray is working hard or not.
What’s evident is that the Cardinals are back in the playoffs for the first time in five seasons and they’ve constantly improved since Murray took over.
However, the team’s success could also be attributed to the likes of DeAndre Hopkins and James Conner.
But the way Murray is negotiating his long-term extension won’t endear him to the football public.
There’s no need for the statement if his intention is to return with the Cardinals anyway.
Feely does have a point in not being humble about his deficiencies, especially when the starters around him get injured.
Has there ever been an admittance from Murray’s camp regarding his limitations?
Likewise, his decision-making must also improve, especially when his top targets are not playing.
