One of the most popular hot topics these days is how talented Russell Westbrook of the Los Angeles Lakers is.
If you’re judging him based solely on his first season with the Lakers, you wouldn’t be very impressed.
While Westbrook’s numbers weren’t awful, his playing was sloppy and troubled, to say the least.
Yet, the debate rages on: is Westbrook amazing or not?
Russell Westbrook is 3x NBA assists leader. For anybody to say that he didn’t make people around him better is beyond disturbing to me! Just saying tho…

Former NBA player and current analyst Kendrick Perkins gave his two cents on Westbrook’s skills.
Speaking about the player on Twitter, Perkins said, “Russell Westbrook is the 3x NBA assists leader. For anybody to say that he didn’t make people around him better is beyond disturbing to me! Just saying tho…”
Does Perkins have a point?
Is Westbrook really the type of athlete who props up other players over himself?
What About Westbrook?
Of course, Westbrook is a great basketball player.
Anybody who gets paid by the NBA is obviously talented on the floor.
Yet, there is no doubt that Westbrook had a rocky season.
It wasn’t as bad as many people said but it was certainly below the expectations fans – and the team – had for Westbrook.
Yet, Perkins makes a good point: many of the best players in the league are great for certain talents that aren’t always showy and flashy.
Some guys are better at helping others, instead of performing wild dunks or crazy blocks.
Westbrook’s assists are an example of that.
Sure enough, he’s a master of getting the ball to someone who can score.
There is a reason why he’s led the league in assists three times.
However, there is still no question that Westbrook needs to step it up next season.
