There has been a lot of talk and chatter about the projected No. 1 pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, Victor Wembanyama.
The star prospect out of France is a kind of player we had never seen before, and never had NBA scouts raved so much about any prospect in the history of this game.
However, all the hype and expectations about him might as well set him up for failure.
That’s why former NBA player Tim Hardaway Sr. wanted to pump the brakes a little and talk about realistic expectations for the French standout.

Per Hardaway, it’s not fair to expect Wembanyama to score 30 points per game right out of the gate.
Instead, he expects him to score around 20 points per game, grab 12 to 14 boards a night, and hand out five to seven assists per contest.
Hardaway believes that the San Antonio Spurs will make the most of his skills to try and play some better, winning basketball, as opposed to letting him just carry the load on his own.
Wembanyama has the combination of size and skills to be the most unique player in the history of this beautiful game.
But it takes more than skills and size to be successful in the most competitive basketball league on Earth.
He needs to stay healthy, and even if he winds up having a great career, he might not be able to live up to the unrealistic expectations some have for him.
