Free agency is buzzing again.
Teams and players are agreeing on new contracts for the 2022 season in a quick two-week offseason period following the 99-day lockout.
Several stars have gotten some very lucrative deals from their new squads.
Such is the case with former Chicago Cubs stars Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo, and Kyle Schwarber, all three of whom signed within a 24-hour period with new teams.
The combined amount of money being made by these former Cubs stars sits at $293 million, according to Jon Heyman.
But if you add in Javier Baez, who signed a six-year, $140 million deal with the Detroit Tigers, the total amount being made by these stars combined comes to $433 million.
Bryant, Schwarber and Rizzo sign within 24 hours. $293M total take. Throw in Javy Baez and it’s $433M. All now ex Cubs.

A Tough Reality
This has to be tough for Cubs fans to see.
These four stars were key factors in their 2016 World Series championship run and endeared themselves to the Chicago fans.
The Cubs have a decent shot at improving over last year, signing Marcus Stroman and Seiya Suzuki to help bolster their roster, but with all of their former stars free agents, one might think that Cubs fans would hope for at least one of them to come back to Chicago.
But all of them are gone and the Cubs look completely different.
The Cubs are probably not done spending just yet.
After all, they were willing to spend big to land Stroman and Suzuki, but if they want to compete with the St. Louis Cardinals and Milwaukee Brewers, they need more and there is still time to for Jed Hoyer to pull off some moves.
But it still must be hard for Cubs fans to see three of their stars sign so quickly and for so much money, especially considering that the Cubs probably had the financial resources to try and bring back at least one of them.
