Sanders will move on from the NFL after 12 seasons, including six with Denver.
He won Super Bowl 50 with the squad after defeating Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers.
Stats-wise, Sanders had success with the Broncos from 2014 to 2016.
In his first season at Denver, the former Southern Methodist University standout had career highs of 101 receptions, 1,404 yards, and nine touchdowns.
A year later, he had 1,135 yards and six touchdowns.
In 2016, Sanders had 1,032 yards and five touchdowns.
Those years were the only 1,000-yard campaigns in Sanders’ career.
After his stint with the Broncos, Sanders played for the San Francisco 49ers, New Orleans Saints, and Buffalo Bills.
He was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers in round three of the 2010 draft.
Sanders Says Goodbye
The wideout is at peace with his decision by saying, “I’m ending my career as a Super Bowl champion.”
He also shared to DenverBroncos.com, “For me, I feel like it’s the right time for me. Twelve years. I’m walking away from the game healthy. I’ve had a great career.”
Sanders added, “I played in a lot of great games. Three Super Bowls. Pro Bowls. I played for some great organizations. And so I just feel like it’s my time. Twelve is good for me. Now I can go and run routes with my son and play basketball with my son, hang out with my kids and enjoy my life.”
Finally, he shared in an Instagram post, “I gave the game everything I had, and it treated me well, which is why I’m happy with my decision. To everyone who supported me throughout my career.. thank you!”
