The Los Angeles Angels haven’t played postseason baseball since 2014; and haven’t been part of a World Series since 2002, when they won it.
A long time has passed since they have been competitive, even with Mike Trout on their roster since 2014 and Shohei Ohtani since 2018.
They are very, very unlikely to be fighting for a playoff spot anytime soon.
Some former Angels, however, will be taking part in the 2022 Fall Classic, most of them on the Philadelphia Phillies side.
“Brandon Marsh and Noah Syndergaard are going to the World Series, along with Angels legend Jean Segura. Current Angels OF Mickey Moniak also has a rooting interest. He would get a ring if the Phillies win it all,” The Athletic’s Sam Blum tweeted on Monday.

Several Former Angels Could Get A Ring
Marsh was a top prospect on the Angels’ side for a long time and the Phillies acquired him for a catching prospect this year.
Syndergaard’s velocity hasn’t returned since his Tommy John surgery but he remains a serviceable arm that the Phils got for Mickey Moniak and prospect Jadiel Sanchez.
Segura was a top Angels prospect in the early 2010s, but was traded to Milwaukee for Zack Greinke in a failed playoff run, hence the sarcastic term “legend” by Blum.
He blossomed into a productive everyday middle infielder in Milwaukee and then had stints in Arizona and Seattle before landing in Philadelphia.
All of them, including Moniak, would get a World Series ring should the Phillies beat the Houston Astros in the Fall Classic.
Despite the Angels being out of the playoff picture this year as usual, they managed to send a few former players to the last series of the season.
