Rich Paul is one of the most successful sports agents of all time and knows a thing or two about the NBA.
Without Paul, LeBron James’ career would be vastly different.
Paul recently gave his opinion on the age-old debate about the greatest basketball player of all time.
He mentioned that if people want to rank players based on the number of Finals rings they won, then Bill Russell is the GOAT.
But he also said, “LeBron been to the Finals for half of his career.”
The entire clip, courtesy of SpeakContext, gives insight from one of the biggest names in the industry.
“You see these guys on TV every day speaking about rings… Well if it’s about the rings then it’s Bill Russell”
“LeBron been in the finals for half of his career”

It immediately created serious feedback online.
Many people agreed with Paul but some took issue with him suggesting that Russell is perhaps the best to ever play.
Russell played in a league with 8 teams. Most of those rings they didn’t even have playoffs, just rewarded a chip to the team with the best record at the end.
Know damn well that ain’t the same.

There were some who said that if James played in the same era of Russell, he would also have 11 championship rings.
This a lame argument. Bill didn’t play in the modern era. Lebron probably have 11 rings playing in that era too.

Others said that those who think James isn’t as great because he has lost multiple times in the championship are missing the point.
“Believe it or not, people think that being 4-0 in the finals is better than 4-6,” one said.
Believe it or not, people think that being 4-0 in the finals is better than being 4-6. They literally think that not getting in the finals, or losing early is better for his legacy.

There were plenty of James fans who came out to support their favorite star, stating that those who hate him are constantly moving the goalposts.

This isn’t the first or the last time that people will discuss James as a possible GOAT of the NBA.
As his career inches closer to an end, the debate will only get bigger and louder.
People’s opinions will vary but one thing is clear: James is and always will be part of the conversation.
