The Golden State Warriors played the Atlanta Hawks on Monday Night in one of the best games of the NBA season.
The Warriors entered the game with Stephen Curry and Andrew Wiggins unavailable to play.
But, luckily for them, Klay Thompson was there to save the day.
Thompson set a season-high in the game scoring 54 points and making 10 three-pointers.
For a player that has endured so much over the past few seasons, this was the game that showed he was back.

This game ended up going two overtime, and plenty of big shots were made on both sides.
Golden State had a 17-point lead at halftime before blowing that lead in the third quarter and entering the fourth with a tied game.
Thompson helped keep the Warriors alive when they went down by as much as nine in the final quarter.

At the end of regulation, the game-tying three was made by Donte DiVincenzo.
This shot kept the Warriors alive and vaulted them into the first overtime.

The game was back and forth throughout the first two overtimes, but an unlikely hero emerged for the Warriors.
At the end of the second overtime, Kevon Looney, made a put-back layup as time expired to win the game for Golden State.
It seemed obvious that Thompson was going to take the last shot.
But, once he missed, Looney was there to clean it up.

Looney has always been a fan favorite in Golden State.
That is why this moment was so special for the fans in that arena.

The Warriors have the best record in the NBA at home, at 17-2 they have been incredible.
This win increased their win streak to five and they are right back in the thick of things in the Western Conference standings.
