It’s an exciting day for Tennessee Titans fans.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the franchise has gotten approval from the Metro Nashville City Council to issue $760 million in bonds for their new enclosed stadium.
A vote this morning from the Metro Nashville City Council means the #Titans have cleared the last hurdle for $1.2B in public financing for their new stadium. That indicates a new home is coming and likely a Super Bowl (bring it on).

That, plus $500 million in state bonds, will give the Titans the priciest stadium in terms of public funding.
Per Rapoport, the new stadium will cost an estimated $2.1 billion, with the Titans and the NFL providing the rest of the money.
This stadium will have a seating capacity of nearly 60,000 fans, as well as a translucent roof.
Of course, the fans had plenty to say about this:

If every city builds a new stadium to attract more events, does anyone actually attract more events?

Nashville would be a fun place for a Super Bowl. Downtown Nashville is underrated

Being TN native, trust me, we don’t care and they don’t need it.

Moreover, it’ll allow the city to place its bids to host major sporting events, including CFP games and the Super Bowl.
The Titans have been working on this project for quite a while now, and they hope to break ground by mid-2024 and open the doors in time for the 2027 season.
Nissan Stadium had become one of the most outdated stadiums in the league.
It opened its doors in 1999 as the Adelphia Coliseum, serving as the team’s first home after moving from Houston back in 1997.
The team originally intended to refurbish the stadium until a study pointed out that it would cost nearly $1.2 billion.
The new stadium will reportedly be located between Nissan Stadium and Interstate 24, with city officials planning to include a park, affordable housing, a new road, and greenways all around the area.
On the downside, the team is likely to use artificial turf instead of grass, regardless of the players’ complaints and concerns about their health.
