The NBA offseason isn’t even fully underway for every team in the league yet, with the Denver Nuggets and Miami Heat still battling it out in the NBA Finals, but that hasn’t stopped the Phoenix Suns from already addressing the team’s immediate future.
Shortly after introducing Frank Vogel as Monty Williams’ successor in Phoenix, the Suns notified veteran point guard Chris Paul that he would be waived during the offseason.
Although Paul being sent packing was something anticipated by the Suns, it was thought that the team would try to trade him to get some assets in return for the 38-year-old.

Even though Paul is not the same player he once was at his peak in the NBA, the veteran guard will have a market for his services if he doesn’t ultimately re-sign with the Suns at a discounted rate.
The Los Angeles Lakers have already been mentioned as a potential landing spot for the journeyman, as he’s been close with LeBron James for a very long time, and the team could use a boost in the backcourt with the storied franchise seemingly not sold on D’Angelo Russell.
Other title contenders will almost certainly emerge in the coming months as possible suitors for Paul as he tries to figure out what he wants to do in the twilight of his career.
Paul comes with some concerns as he’s struggled to stay healthy, especially when the playoffs roll around, which may keep some teams at bay.
