The New York Giants have made it clear this offseason that they want to keep their core together for years to come.
They gave quarterback Daniel Jones a massive new contract, and they used their franchise tag on star running back Saquon Barkley to retain him for at least one more year.
On Thursday, it was announced that Pro Bowl defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence had just been given a four-year contract extension that will be worth $90 million, $60 million of which will be guaranteed.

Plenty felt the deal was well-deserved.
Gotta keep your prime players happy.

But this Dallas Cowboys fan thinks paying Lawrence that much money will not pay off.
Paying him all that just to lose to the Cowboys every year.

Lawrence is only 25 years of age and just completed his fourth season in the NFL, but he had a breakthrough season.
He had 7.5 sacks, 28 quarterback hits, and seven tackles for loss in 2022, which got him his first Pro Bowl nod.
He was a big reason why the Giants shocked a lot of people by winning six of their first seven games, making the playoffs and knocking off the 13-4 Minnesota Vikings in the Wild Card round.
In that win over the Vikings, Lawrence had four QB hits plus six combined tackles (two solo).
The Giants weren’t exactly a prolific offensive team, but they got the job done by winning ugly and winning with defense, much like their vintage 1986 and 1990 squads that won the Super Bowl.
The NFC East could be a little tougher next season, as the Cowboys have loaded up and the defending conference champion Philadelphia Eagles have added No. 9 draft pick Jalen Carter to their front seven, but New York will have something to say about how the division will play out.
