The Cincinnati Bengals have been a team on the rise in the NFL ever since they drafted quarterback Joe Burrow out of LSU with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Despite going down in his rookie season in Cincinnati after suffering a season-ending knee injury, Burrow has far exceeded expectations in his short NFL career thus far with a Pro Bowl selection and an appearance in the Super Bowl.
With Burrow proving his worth over the last three seasons with the Bengals, the team has decided to make a move that everyone saw coming.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Bengals have exercised Burrow’s fifth-year option.
Another no-brainer: The #Bengals have picked up the fifth-year option for QB Joe Burrow, source said.

Hey may get a bigger contract than pat Mahomes if they go to or win the Super Bowl. My bold prediction they’ll need to back up the brinks truck for Burrows contract.

With Burrow playing at a very high level during his first three seasons in Cincinnati, the real question is when the contract extension talks get underway to make him a very wealthy man.
The Philadelphia Eagles recently signed star quarterback Jalen Hurts to a lucrative contract extension after he led the team to the Super Bowl.
Outside of Lamar Jackson and his situation with the Baltimore Ravens regarding a contract extension, Burrow could be the next star quarterback in line to get a massive contract.
Cincinnati has shown that the team could be a force to be reckoned with for many years to come, with Burrow under center and Ja’Marr Chase downfield, as long as the franchise can continue to build around these star players.
It’ll likely be only a matter of time before the Bengals sign Burrow to a contract that might set the market for star quarterbacks.NEXT: Joe Burrow Holds Modern NFL History
