When Adele canceled her shows and postponed her Vegas residency 24 hours before it was supposed to begin, fans were not happy.
While she promised to start the residency at a later time, this simply wasn’t enough for most fans.
Many fans were already in Vegas to see the first show before she canceled and were unhappy that they had paid for their flights and trips but weren’t going to get to see their favorite singer perform.
Adele recently addressed the decision to cancel and said that she wasn’t able to provide the fans with the experience they deserve and felt that canceling was the best option. In an interview with Desert Island Discs, she said
“I definitely felt everyone’s disappointment and I was devastated and I was frightened about letting them down. I thought I could pull it together and make it work and I couldn’t, and I stand by that decision.”
She added.
“I’m so sorry, but my show ain’t ready. We’ve tried absolutely everything we can to put it together in time and for it to be good enough for you, but we’ve been absolutely destroyed by delivery delays and COVID.”
Needless to say, fans were not happy and she received a lot of backlash for her decision to cancel. She said the reactions from fans shocked her and made her feel bad about herself. She explained,
“I was a shell of a person for a couple of months. I just had to wait it out and just grieve it, I guess, just grieve the shows and get over the guilt, but it was brutal.”
Still, Adele stood by her decision and explained her reason for staying so quiet after the cancellation. She said,
“I’m not gonna update you if I ain’t got nothing to update you with,” she added, “because that just leads to more disappointment.”
Fans reacted to her interview with mixed feelings. Some felt it was too little too late and others sympathized with her singer and even praised her for thinking of the health of others over her concerts.
It's hard to feel sorry for @Adele when it doesn't seem like she really cares about her fans.

Adele demos how not to connect with her fan base, venue management and production crew – just screw all of them and walk away ^^

I’m a big @Adele fan, but cancelling was selfish. Fans were there to hear her sing, not see a Vegas show. https://t.co/EvrfMhdn1c

Adele announced her Las Vegas residency would be postponed due to coronavirus-related disruptions to production. https://t.co/svwm0wQ5JY she's fake and was jollier before-you guys created a thinner monster. No-one else got on with Covid19. her $220million? Fans weren't worth it

My❤️goes out to all those who lost both time &💰they can never recoup. I❤️me some Adele trust! The bold faced lies are too much when anybody w/an ounce of sense knows whats up. No doubt about her talent. Its her unstable personal life fans are paying the huge price for & saying pic.twitter.com/qqcbYFqaP8

Does any other artist that postpones shows reimburse for that or is it just Adele everyone expects that from?

Taylor literally canceled lover fest let’s not be hypocrites now. She never even contacted the company for any solution to make up for it while Adele has been actually negotiating new days. And Swifites wonder why they’re the most hated fan base https://t.co/T0ybMzMuN1
