The Philadelphia Eagles have just made a big announcement, getting fans all hyped up ahead of the start of the upcoming season.
The Eagles selected their 2023 team captains, giving the nod to Jalen Hurts, Jason Kelce, Lane Johnson, Brandon Graham, Fletcher Cox, Darius Slay, and Jake Elliott — just like last season, and including a couple of new faces: A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith.
Smith and Brown are coming off an impressive first season together, and they’re expected to fare even better in 2023, especially if Hurts continues taking major leaps in his development.
That’s why the fans took to Twitter to rave about this announcement, showing just how much they love Smith and how proud they are for him finally getting that C on his chest.

Smith was expected to be the Eagles’ WR1 when he first entered the league.
Despite his size — or lack thereof — he didn’t need a lot of time to prove that he could be a special and dominant force in this league, breaking ankles with his route-running and separation skills.
He took a bit of a backseat when the Eagles traded for Brown, but he never complained and just kept his head down and continued to put in the hard work, and it definitely paid off.
Despite his youth, he’s one of the strongest voices and most respected players in the locker room.
And with the Eagles looking to get back to the big game this season, he knows he’ll have to be at his best on and off the field.
