Fans of the Brooklyn Nets rejoiced today when it was announced that Kevin Durant only suffered an MCL sprain in his right knee and will be re-evaluated in two weeks.
Some people feared that he could be missing months of play but that doesn’t seem to be the case and he could be back within a month.
While the news is good, Durant will still miss games – including some very important ones.
Nets face the Warriors in SF in 13 days. Kevin Durant is still yet to play in front of Warriors fans since his departure and won’t again this season. His only road game vs GSW was empty arena during COVID season. https://t.co/JH6cWv9N7P

Anthony Slater points out that Durant will not play with the team when they duke it out against the Golden State Warriors in 13 days.
Durant, who of course once played for the Warriors and helped them win two championships, has not played in front of the Warriors’ home crowd since he left the team.
Previously, his only road game versus the Warriors was in an empty arena due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
This is tough news for the Warriors’ crowd.
Most of the fans hold a bittersweet soft spot in their hearts for Durant, who was a pivotal part of the team for three seasons.
The response he would have gotten would surely have been mixed because there are many still upset that he left.
Unfortunately for Warriors fans, this will be the last time the two teams meet this season.
Of course, if they both conquer their conferences they could have a Finals match-up.
While the idea of the Nets making the Finals isn’t too far-fetched considering how well they’re doing, the Warriors would need a massive turnaround in order to return to the championship.
Given the way the Nets have been playing, there are many Warriors supporters who are actually happy that Durant won’t be playing against the team this year.
