The Atlanta Falcons and New England Patriots are squaring off in primetime Thursday night.
Without context, this is not some sort of major rivalry.
But the sight of “28-3” tells the whole story.
The Patriots famously came back from a 28-3 deficit in Super Bowl LI and Falcons fans have not heard the end of it since.

Time is supposed to heal all wounds, but it has still only been a few years and the Falcons have not won a Super Bowl in that span.
For the Patriots, it was just another part of their legendary dynasty.
The 28-3 Jokes Are Coming
The Patriots are essentially in a new era now with Mac Jones at quarterback.
But the Falcons are still led by Matt Ryan and it has to sting anytime he sees the 28-3 score mentioned.
The Falcons had that game won before they failed to score, run out the clock, or stop the Patriots offense at all.
So many things went wrong and hindsight presents countless strategies that would have led to a Falcons win.
However, Tom Brady is a magician and sometimes his magic is simply inevitable.

Fans can expect 28-3 jokes to cover social media all day.
As for the game itself, there should be a high over/under total for how many times it is mentioned.
And just imagine if there is a 28-3 score in this game.
It may break the Internet.
If we just focus on the present this game does have meaning for both teams.
The 6-4 Patriots are trying to fight for the AFC East lead and the 4-5 Falcons are still in the mix for an NFC Wild Card spot.
So once the jokes are said, this game should be a competitive one throughout.
