Before the 2023 MLB season, the World Baseball Classic will take place.
It will be the fifth edition of the tournament that hosts some of the best players, managers, and coaches in the world.
Baseball is a global game, and there are lots of countries in the same tier as the United States: the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Japan, Mexico, Venezuela, and South Korea are some of them.
Each team is in the process of gathering talent for the event: rosters are still being finalized.
Puerto Rico may not be the powerhouse they were in the 2000s and the 2010s, but they do have some of the best players on the planet.
You can be sure that the best and most dominant reliever in MLB is Puerto Rican, and he will be part of the roster next year to defend and represent his country.
“@SugarDiaz39 intends to represent Puerto Rico at the #WorldBaseballClassic!” the official account of the event tweeted on Tuesday.

That’s right: New York Mets star closer Edwin Diaz will be part of the Puerto Rican roster.
Puerto Rico Will Be Competitive In The WBC
Although most of the these players haven’t confirmed their presence in the WBC, Puerto Rico has some serious talent: Francisco Lindor, Carlos Correa, Javier Baez, Jose Berrios, Christian Vazquez, Alexis Diaz, Martin Maldonado, MJ Melendez, Jose Miranda, and Eddie Rosario, among others, can represent the country.
For now, Diaz is the only sure thing.
The exciting reliever has a 1.52 ERA in 53.1 innings so far in 2022, with 29 saves to his resume.
More importantly, he has the best strikeout rate in the majors at 49 percent.
He will be an incredible addition to the Puerto Rican roster.
