The Eagles shattered all previous records by signing Hurts to a monster five-year extension worth a whopping $255 million, including $179 million guaranteed.
Notably, the Eagles won’t want to play it safe with their franchise QB, as coach Nick Sirianni recently claimed that they don’t intend to use him any differently now that he got paid.
So, Hurts will continue to wreak havoc and make plays with his feet for the foreseeable future, even if that could lead to more injuries.
Just one year ago, there was some chatter about whether the Eagles should settle for Hurts or pursue an upgrade at the quarterback position.
Now, he’s an MVP candidate and a guy making more money per year than the likes of Russell Wilson, Aaron Rodgers, or Patrick Mahomes.
The Eagles organization fully trusts him as a leader and a player, so let’s hope he can pay that confidence back with another trip to the Super Bowl, this time taking the Vince Lombardi trophy home as well.
