The Philadelphia Eagles took a giant leap of faith in Jalen Hurts this season.
People questioned him as the answer at quarterback for them, and some even thought they would trade up to try and get a QB in the past NFL Draft.
Instead, Howie Roseman continued to build around him and even gave him another elite weapon in the passing game, like A.J. Brown.
Hurts delivered and paid back that confidence with an MVP-caliber season, leading the Eagles to the best record in the league and silencing most of the critics.
That’s why Eagles CEO Jeff Lurie reaffirmed that the team is willing to commit him for the long run, even if things don’t go their way in the Super Bowl.
Eagles CEO Jeff Lurie told Sal Paolantonio Jalen Hurts has “nothing to prove” to be viewed as long term answer at QB.
Asked if contract extension negotiations are in the future, Lurie said: “He’s just what we’re looking for.”

It’s definitely nice to finally hear someone has his back after being doubted for years.
Hurts was benched on national television during the National Championship game at Alabama and had to transfer to take his career back from the ground.
Then, he had a solid start to his NFL career, yet he was benched and doubted again, so it hasn’t been an easy ride for the Oklahoma product by any means.
Of course, every quarterback is asked to deliver in big games, and this will be Hurts’ biggest game of his career, so watching him underperform would once again fuel the debate about his potential as a franchise QB.
Hopefully, Lurie’s comments will only take some pressure off his shoulders and help him be at his best at the ultimate stage.
