The Philadelphia Eagles are in win-now mode after blowing a 10-point lead in the Super Bowl last season, and they’re hoping to finish the job this season and claim the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
But that doesn’t mean they don’t have an eye on the near future.
They signed cornerback Isaiah Rodgers in order to provide themselves with greater depth at the position, even though Rodgers has been suspended for all of this season for gambling, via Ari Meirov.

Philly has one of the NFL’s better duos at cornerback with James Bradberry and Pro Bowler Darius Slay.
Along with linebacker Haason Reddick and the departed Javon Hargrave, they helped the team finish second in total yards allowed in 2022.
Rodgers was a sixth-round draft pick in 2020, and his best season thus far came in 2021 when he had seven passes defended and three interceptions.
Last season, he started nine of his 15 games with the Indianapolis Colts.
This season, first-round draft pick Jalen Carter will replace Hargrave, who signed with the San Francisco 49ers, the team Philly defeated in last season’s NFC Championship Game, and thus Philly is still the favorite to return to the Super Bowl.
Quarterback Jalen Hurts could become even better than he was last season, and the team possesses an elite wide receiver tandem in A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, while Dallas Goedert gives them a very solid tight end.
With a relatively young core, especially on offense, the Eagles could be a force for the next several years, especially if Rodgers pans out starting in 2024.
