Dwight Howard was once the most impressive defensive star in the league and found serious success in the NBA while playing for the Orlando Magic, Houston Rockets, Philadelphia 76ers, and, of course, the Los Angeles Lakers.
He is an eight-time All-NBA player, a three-time Defensive Player of the Year, a two-time block champion, an eight-time All-Star, and a champion with the Lakers.
And, sadly, he might also be retired.
“I want to play but at the same [time] there’s like no teams that really want to allow me to play. That’s how I’ve been feeling from the last situation with the Lakers. I felt like I did enough to help them win a championship…”

Howard is getting quite frank about what’s ahead for him in the NBA.
The truth is that he may have played his last game.
“I want to play but at the same [time] there’s like no teams that really want to allow me to play,” Howard said on the All the Smoke podcast.
He continued: “That’s how I’ve been feeling from the last situation with the Lakers. I felt like I did enough to help them win a championship.”
Howard remains a free agent just hours before the new season and has hinted at the prospect of him hanging up the jersey and stepping away from the league.
No More Howard
Howard last played for the Lakers, averaging just 6.2 points and 5.9 rebounds during 16.2 minutes per game.
Obviously, he isn’t the commanding big man that he used to be but he’s been around for 18 years so a limited output is expected.
His career average remains impressive at 15.7 points and 11.8 rebounds a game.
He was indeed one of the most talented and intimidating centers for a few years but age and injuries caught up with him.
Still, it’s surprising to hear that no team is trying to sign Howard – many expected someone to come knocking at his door as the new season approached.
Howard seems disappointed that it’s come to this but also at peace with the thought of walking away from the game.
Have we seen the last of him?
