Dusty Baker‘s 2,000th career managerial win brought smiles to everybody throughout the game of baseball.
Baker has been around for a long time and has had success everywhere he has been.
He’s taken several teams to the postseason, including two teams who made it all the way to the World Series.
Following the Houston Astros’ 4-0 win which catapulted Baker to history, his son, Washington Nationals‘ prospect Darren Baker, expressed his excitement for his father’s milestone in a text to MLB.com.
“My dad never ceases to amaze me,” said Baker. “All of his success has been earned through hard work and dedication. I congratulate him on 2,000 wins, and I’m so very proud that he is my dad.”
Darren Baker on his dad reaching 2,000:

A Proud Son
This is a nice heartfelt message by Darren.
He is clearly very grateful to have a dad as successful as Dusty and is very happy to see his dad reach a historic milestone.
Baker knows how hard his dad has worked to become one of the greatest managers of all time.
2,000 wins is a rite of passage for any manager who has ever been enshrined in the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, a place where Dusty is surely headed after he decides to hang them up and call it a career.
And it seems that Dusty has raised Darren the right way, as evidenced by his heartfelt message and kind words about his father.
Not every young baseball player has the luxury of having a parent who is one of the most successful managers of all time.
Darren is lucky to have been raised by such a great baseball man and somebody who has such great experience.
