Houston Astros manager Dusty Baker earned his 2,000 career win as a skipper on Tuesday.
It’s something that just 11 other managers have been able to do.
He is also the first Black manager to join the club.
It’s quite an achievement of longevity, leadership, and baseball knowledge.
The best part of all is that Baker did it with a rock-solid .534 winning percentage, with many more victories than losses.
The Astros prepared a nice tribute video for the great Baker.
The clip, which is over four minutes long, contains several congratulatory messages from coaches, former teammates, players, and even a special family member.

He Has Cultivated Love And Respect Around The Game
Astros owner Jim Crane has the first message, and he is followed by former Duke and USA basketball coach Mike Krzyzeswki, manager and fellow member of the 2,000-win club Joe Torre, former teammate Ralph Garr, and players such as Barry Bonds (who was on that 2002 San Francisco Giants team that lost the World Series with the Los Angeles Angels), Joey Votto, and Bryce Harper.
Also making appearances were fellow members of the 2,000-win club Bruce Bochy and Tony La Russa, former player and manager Bud Black, Steve Garvey, and current Astros Michael Brantley, Jose Altuve, and Alex Bregman.
Last but not least, Dusty’s son Darren Baker had the final message, with the video showing several pictures of wholesome father-son moments throughout history.
It was a nice gesture from Baker’s current team, one that he led to the World Series last year.
Every neutral in the baseball universe is rooting for him to win his first Fall Classic as a manager this year, thus earning the only major trophy missing in his case.
