One of the best players from that legendary NBA Draft Class of 2003 has officially called it a career.
Carmelo Anthony announced his retirement from the NBA, prompting some hot takes on social media, and getting the praise and respect from his peers and colleagues all over the league.
That includes Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green, who took the liberty to shower him with praise in the latest edition of his podcast and took a slight shot at those who won’t recognize his greatness.

Green remembered what it was like to grow up watching Melo play and dominate and then actually get the chance to compete with him with Team USA in the Olympics.
He later claimed that even though some will always diss him for not winning an NBA championship, that shouldn’t define a player’s legacy, and cited that Anthony is one of the greatest players to ever lace them up and a future first-ballot Hall of Famer.
Anthony will never be as cherished and respected as he should, most likely because of the never-ending comparisons to LeBron James and Dwyane Wade, who obviously won rings.
But Melo never had the supporting casts they had, and even though he mishandled his exit from the Denver Nuggets, he was still one of the prime scorers and players in the NBA for over a decade.
Just like Green said, ring or not, he’s a future first-ballot Hall of Famer, and he had a better career than at least 90% of NBA players.
