Doug Pederson Is Trying To Do The Impossible In Jacksonville

For Jacksonville Jaguars fans, some are happy with their selection of Doug Pederson as their new head coach.

However, he comes to a team whose last two seasons saw them finish dead last in the standings.

But that isn’t the only hurdle in front of the new head coach for Jacksonville.

He’s got a team that’s relatively young and that dealt with the worst coach in NFL history in Urban Meyer.

With the odds stacked against him, his job in Jacksonville could see him doing the impossible.

Right now, it all starts with something simple that every Jaguars fan wants from him.

Winning Games Is The First Stop On Pederson’s Impossible Path

While this might seem simple, it’s something that was difficult for the Jaguars during their last two NFL seasons.

However, the team closed out the NFL 2021-22 season with a shocking win against the Indianapolis Colts.

Pederson needs to show his players they can beat playoff-worthy teams.

Reminding them of that game will help him in his efforts to inspire the Jaguars young team.

It also can help Pederson cruise through the path of impossible tasks when that unit wins games based on his inspiration.

If he can get them to a 7-10 season, it’s a minor victory for a team that only won 10 games in the last three seasons.

Pederson Has The Impossible Task Of Fixing Everything Meyer Broke

When Meyer was fired by the Jaguars, he left a gigantic mess to be cleaned up by the new head coach.

Pederson is now the owner of this mess, and it could be impossible to fix.

However, it starts with showing that he isn’t the same as the former head coach.

Starting with players’ trust with their coaching staff is key to him fixing the situation.

PODCAST ALERT!

The Jacksonville Jaguars need to win to change the minds of the fans. So much talk about "culture changes" has me wondering if that's just coach speak. Doug Pederson has mentioned "trust" needing to be regained for coaching by the players.https://t.co/tWBgYLdcUq pic.twitter.com/NaaOzm5hwU

Some players that spoke out about Meyer are gone.

But there are still others who are with the Jaguars and need someone they can trust as coach.

It is paramount to rebuild the coach/player relationship that most NFL teams have today.

However, recent news stories about the Jaguars’ former head coach make it harder for their new coach to rebuild that relationship.

Pederson’s Track Record In Philadelphia Can Help Him In Jacksonville

With the situation in Jacksonville looking bleak, the team at least has someone that can repair things for them.

Their new coach has a record of success from his time in Philadelphia.

He took the Eagles to the Super Bowl, giving them their first ever Lombardi Trophy

He is also nothing like the team’s former head coach.

So while things aren’t perfect in Jacksonville, it’s slowly going in the right direction.

Their coach wants to reestablish trust between coaching and the players, and he’s a former Super Bowl winning coach.

He’s coached some superstars before and some lesser known players during his Super Bowl run.

With the slate of new players in Jacksonville, he gives the team a fresh start.

However, only time can tell us if he can bring instant success or if they need to wait before becoming a winning team again.
