Donovan Mitchell is one of the best and more explosive guards in the NBA today, and he transformed the Cleveland Cavaliers into a bona fide playoff team this past season.
He is coming off a season in which he established career highs in points per game and shooting percentage, and at age 26, he’s likely just starting to hit his stride.
During a recent workout, he schooled Orlando Magic guard Cole Anthony with a nice step-back 3-point shot, via Legion Hoops.

Mitchell played his first five seasons with the Utah Jazz, and it was there that he made a name for himself.
He exploded during the 2020 NBA playoffs, averaging 36.3 points a game and shooting a sizzling 51.6 percent from 3-point range during the Jazz’s first-round loss to the Denver Nuggets.
During that series, he had not one but two 50-point games, and he established himself as someone who raises his game in big contests.
This past season, he averaged 28.3 points a game, and he was the biggest reason the Cavs finished with the fourth-best record in the Eastern Conference, by far their best finish since LeBron James’ final season with them.
When he asked Utah to trade him last summer, there were many rumors that he would end up with the New York Knicks, especially since he is originally from the New York City area.
But he ended up in Northeast Ohio, and now the Cavs have a team that seems to be one step away from championship contention.
The Magic, meanwhile, are simply hoping to make the playoffs sometime soon, something they haven’t done since 2020.
