The Miami Dolphins looked like a legit contender for the first half of the season, but Tua Tagovailoa‘s multiple concussions, and their defensive meltdowns, eventually led to another disappointing end of the campaign.
The Dolphins fired DC Josh Boyer — a holdover from the Brian Flores era — and multiple position coaches, so Mike McDaniel and company have been working around the clock to fill those positions right away.
They have already interviewed Seattle Seahawks Associate Head Coach and Defensive Assistant Sean Desai and former Denver Broncos’ Head Coach Vic Fangio, but it seems like they’re not going to leave anything to chance at this point.
That’s why they’ve also requested permission to interview New Orleans Saints co-Defensive Coordinator and Defensive Backs coach Kris Richard, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport.

Mike McDaniel’s team boasted one of the most explosive offenses in the league, with Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill wreaking havoc downfield.
However, they ranked at the bottom of the pack in terms of total yards allowed per game (354.9), passing yards allowed per game (234.8), points allowed per game (23.5), and third-down conversion percentage (41.6%).
Needless to say, that’s not going to get the job done consistently against divisional rivals like the Buffalo Bills, not to mention other AFC powerhouses such as the Cincinnati Bengals or Kansas City Chiefs.
The Dolphins won’t rush to make a decision and will do their thorough research to find the right fit for the job, so we expect even more names to join the list in the next couple of weeks.
