During the 2022 regular season, the Miami Dolphins found more success than they have encountered in recent memory, making the playoffs for the first time since 2016.
One of the biggest components of the Dolphins’ success is the coaching style of Mike McDaniel.
Although they were successful in 2022, the Dolphins will look to grow next season, which is why they decided to hire a marquee defensive coordinator candidate.
After speaking with multiple teams about their defensive coordinator position, Vic Fangio has decided to join the Dolphins as their defensive coordinator and officially will accept the position on the Miami staff after the Super Bowl.

Vic Fangio is the latest addition to the Dolphins’ coaching staff.
Fangio has a storied history of coaching in the NFL, spending almost 30 years in the league.
Most recently, he was on the Philadelphia Eagles staff as a defensive consultant.
Before that, he was the head coach of the Denver Broncos and was a defensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers and Chicago Bears as well.
Although McDaniel was able to find success in his first year as the Dolphins’ head coach, Fangio’s experience should provide to be a great resource to McDaniel.
Fangio will be stepping into a Dolphins defense that is loaded with superstar talents.
Despite their defensive talent, the Dolphins allowed 24.1 points per game to opposing offenses, which was the ninth-worst mark in the league.
With any luck, Fangio can help all of its talented individuals turn into a well-oiled machine, operating in harmony as a defense.
If Tua Tagavailoa is healthy in 2023, the Dolphins will have a real opportunity to make a splash next season.
Between Fangio and McDaniel, they have the coaches in place to make a miracle happen, bringing the Dolphins to new heights.
