Exterior view of a Target retail store

Amazon is the biggest online brand and sells everything you could ever want or need.

Sometimes, you can’t find the exact product you’re looking for at your local Target, so you may need to order what you’re looking for online.

You may only find disappointment if you go looking for an Amazon gift card at Target.

Does Target Sell Amazon Gift Cards?

Amazon.com Gift Card in a Black Gift Box (Classic Black Card Design)

No, Target does not sell Amazon gift cards at any of their locations or on their website.

Amazon has been butting heads with the majority of retailers, which may be why you could have a difficult time finding one of their gift cards in brick-and-mortar stores.

There are a few stores that will have Amazon gift cards in stock.

You can find Amazon gift cards at Walgreens, Best Buy, 7-Eleven, Family Dollar, Wegmans, and Winn-Dixie.

Amazon’s website also allows you to make an account with your basic credit card information so you can buy directly from them.

Luckily, there is a solution if you need to pick up a way to make a purchase from Amazon at Target.

While Target may not sell Amazon gift cards, they do sell other gift cards such as American Express and Mastercard gift cards.

You can use either of those to make Amazon purchases.

Not every consumer is excited to put their credit card information into a website, especially with the threat of breaks in cybersecurity.

You don’t want a hacker getting ahold of such valuable information.

That’s why cautious customers may choose to buy gift cards and put in the gift card’s information instead.

Amazon Security Breaches

Amazon Building

While the world of online shopping has made it easier to find the products you want or need, cybersecurity is a massive, silent threat.

When massive companies hold the private and valuable information of millions of users, they are at a higher risk of being hacked.

The consumers who have their information compromised often don’t learn about it until the damage has already been done.

With all the information that Amazon holds on each of its consumers, people can become victims of theft and exploitation.

Amazon holds a lot of sensitive information about their customers, such as payment information, order history, any data collected from their advertisements, and even forms of identification.

Hackers use this information to defraud and trick people into giving them any other information they’re looking for.

The biggest issue in Amazon’s information security is the fact that they have a difficult time keeping track of all the information they’re keeping.

Oftentimes, Amazon knows they have the information somewhere, but can’t give an exact location.

For people who are looking to have Amazon get rid of their information, it is almost not even worth going through the process.

Because your information can’t be found, it can’t be completely forgotten.

You can sign up with Amazon anytime you like, but you may never leave.

The sea of nearly endless information that Amazon holds on their consumers and vendors is too much for them to handle or even keep an eye on.

Amazon has had to patch as much as 55% to 70% of their systems.

Each patch covers a digital hole where a hacker could slip their way in.

If you want to shop on Amazon’s website, you may want to consider getting a gift card to buy your products with instead of your normal debit or credit card.

Alternatives to Amazon

Between all of Amazon’s questionable decisions, you may be looking for alternative places to find the items you can’t find in your local grocery or convenience store.

Thanks to the free market we have, there are many smaller, safer alternatives to Amazon.

Amazon started as an online bookstore and book rental service.

If you’re looking for a new place to order the newest books from large and independent publishers, then you should check out Bookshop.

When you order from Bookshop, you can even help your local bookstore because Bookshop will give 10% of your payment to the local bookstore of your choice.

With the housing market full of buyers, it also means that a lot of people are going to need some home decor, as well.

Made Trade has gathered a variety of ethical manufacturers to bring their customers products that don’t just look spectacular in your home, but also support small businesses where each purchase counts.

People who have loved ones who are sensitive to some of the chemicals found in common cleaners will often search for safe products online.

Grove Collective has all of your natural cleaning supply needs and is even looking to be completely plastic-free by 2025.

Anyone who has built their own computer knows how infuriating it can be to find each particular part you need, especially with digital currency mining on the rise.

Newegg is the best online commerce source for personal computer parts, software, or even gaming.

Photographers and videographers need to look at B&H.

They have everything that professional photographers could ever think of wanting.

Deal hunters may want to replace Amazon with Overstock.com.

There are constant sales on brands that you already know and trust.

Overstock does a lot more than just sell overstock items from Target and TJ Maxx nowadays.

Can You Use Amazon Gift Cards At Target?

amazon gift cards

No, you cannot use Amazon gift cards at Target or on Target’s website.

When you’ve bought a gift card, you’re giving the company whose name is on the gift card money in advance for something to be purchased from their store.

There are two types of gift cards: closed loop and open loop.

Gift cards that are tailored to particular stores are typically closed loop gift cards, meaning their store is the only place you can spend it.

Some closed loop gift cards still work at other stores because the two or more stores are owned by the same people, such as Babies R Us and Bed, Bath, & Beyond.

American Express and Mastercard gift cards are examples of open loop gift cards.

These can be used like cash, as long as the store has a card reader.

These companies earn their profit from the activation fee, which typically is around $5.

People who are not used to using a digital wallet or gift cards may find they are harder to use than physical gift cards.

It is much easier to lose a digital gift card in a sea of emails than it is to lose a thin piece of plastic that fits in any wallet.

Despite the hassle, digital gift cards are becoming increasingly popular.

Does Target Sell Pokémon Cards?

Pokemon card game

Target began to sell Pokémon cards after taking them off the shelves for the safety of their patrons and employees.

Pokémon cards have been incredibly popular among kids ever since Nintendo brought Pokémon to the United States, but their new, accidental demographic has become young to middle-aged adults.

Unboxing videos or live streams have existed for years, but when Logan Paul began streaming Pokémon card unpackaging videos, his audience decided to follow in his footsteps.

This sent Pokémon card sales through the roof, leaving shelves empty as soon as they would get stocked.

Men in their 20s and 30s were getting into physical fights over the trading cards, which was resulting in many Target employee injuries.

Even innocent bystanders were getting trampled, all of which resulted in Target taking Pokémon cards off their shelves completely.

Target was only going to sell their Pokémon cards online.

They began to sell Pokémon cards again on June 1st.

The biggest cause of the problem isn’t online influencers creating unboxing videos, but rather, it is scalpers.

Scalpers are people who make their money buying products that have insanely high demand, buying as many as possible, and then selling them for unreasonably high prices.

During the first few months of the pandemic, retailers had problems with scalpers buying up and reselling things like hand sanitizer, cleaning supplies, and even toilet paper.

People with children who want popular toys for Christmas have probably dealt with scalpers if they’ve been desperate enough.

You find scalpers in places such as Craigslist and eBay.

Pokémon fans hoping to go to Target to purchase Pokémon cards will be able to buy Pokémon cards as long as they’re in stock.

If you can’t find Pokémon at your local Target, you can still purchase them directly through Pokémon online.

Advantages Of Buying Directly

advantages

There are three common types of sales: business-to-business, consumer-to-consumer, and business-to-consumer.

When you’re buying something from Target, Target is the business that is selling to you, the consumer.

In order for Target to have merchandise like Pokémon cards or gift cards, there must be a business-to-business sale.

The cost of that sale is then passed onto the consumer.

When you buy a product from retailers like Target, that item is costing you more than it cost Target.

This is natural in business.

The cost of a product for their customers is heavily considered, taking payroll, purchase price, rent, and resource bills all into consideration.

You will often find the best deal on an item you want by buying directly from the manufacturer or distributor.

When buying direct, you are bypassing the supply chain, which often raises the price.

You are no longer paying for the marketing, retail display, or warehouse handling.

Buying directly from the manufacturer or distributor eases people’s fear of being sold a dysfunctional knock-off.

Depending on the company and the price of your order, you may not even need to pay for shipping.

It’s more affordable for a company to pay individual consumer shipping than it is for them to work with retailers.

Another advantage to shopping directly from a company is that they will offer an even bigger variety of their products than retailers.

This is especially true of companies that are from other countries.

Nintendo, which was founded in Japan in 1889, offers many products online that you can’t find in the United States.

Buying directly also means that you have direct access to support if you need assistance with your purchase.

It will also be easier for you to replace the item or buy a replacement part.

Advantages To Buying From Target

target retail store

Target understands that they are a massive corporation that has an equally sized impact on the world around them.

Target praises its social responsibility efforts, taking a look at each aspect of its business to figure out how it can make the greatest impact.

Target’s first goal is to create and promote sustainable products.

Disposed Target products are filling landfills and water sources.

Target knows they can’t trust every consumer to dispose of their products in a safe way, so they want to help create and sell products that are safer for the environment.

The sustainability problem goes beyond just their products, it includes all the emissions their stores, warehouses, and factories produce.

In an effort to keep their emissions lower, Target has joined “Business Ambition for 1.5०C“, which was started by the United Nations Global Impact.

Target’s second goal is to eliminate waste. In 2018, Target signed the New Plastics Economy Global Commitment and is heavily researching sustainable packaging.

By 2030, the company is looking to be running completely on renewable energy.

Target’s third goal is to help offer equal opportunity to more people.

Target is putting a focus on working with businesses that are owned by a diverse group of business owners.

Their Racial Equity Action and Change committee has helped Target bring more black-owned businesses and African American employees to the table.

Target has also required that, by 2030, all of its suppliers must have certain gender equity policies.

This means that a supplier must have systems in place to help hire and advance more diverse people and offer anonymous channels for reporting abuse, harassment, or assault.

Target’s goal is to have a healthy balance of men and women working at every level.

Target’s Charitable Efforts

Charity Donation Concept

Target knows how difficult it can be for charities to get all the money they need.

Part of Target’s social responsibility efforts is its corporate giving.

With Target putting a spotlight on the charities, they hope to increase the number of donors and inform the public of the problem the charity is trying to solve.

Target has been working with Feeding America since 2001.

In one year, Feeding America has given out six billion meals.

For 40 years, Feeding America has been trying to feed millions of food-insecure Americans.

Feeding America gets its food from retailers, farmers, and other food manufacturers.

Their work has helped lower the amount of food wasted annually, but they are still looking to further reduce the amount of food waste by feeding the hungry.

In 2014, Target became a member of the Veteran Jobs Mission.

Target has committed itself to hiring more of America’s veterans and their spouses.

Military families often have a hard time getting jobs because of how often they have to move.

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is the biggest children’s hospital in the United States.

For 20 years, Target has supported St. Jude’s treatment for children and their research towards treating and curing pediatric cancer.

Target even created the Target House, a place where families can stay for free while their children are getting treatment.

Target wants to help families and the planet we all share.
