Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Tony Gonsolin had himself a night to remember against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Formerly a reliever, Gonsolin has moved to the Dodgers’ rotation and made the start last night.
He did nothing but impress while he was out there, going six innings and allowing just two runs while walking just two and striking out seven.
Gonsolin earned the win, improving to 4-0 and lowering his ERA to 1.64.
Manager Dave Roberts was very impressed with his young starter’s night.
Roberts commented on how efficient Gonsolin was and said that it was a “defining moment” for him, as seen in the tweet below.
Dave Roberts was effusive in his praise of Tony Gonsolin’s outing tonight, saying he had his entire mix and was efficient.
“This is a defining moment” for Gonsolin, he said.

Possible Turning Point
This is some pretty high praise from the manager.
Roberts was clearly very impressed with the way Gonsolin threw the ball against Arizona in last night’s game.
Gonsolin even out-dueled Madison Bumgarner in his outing last night.
But Roberts has seen plenty of young stars rise through the Dodgers’ organization, especially pitchers.
As a former Major Leaguer himself, he knows what it’s like to have to grind it out and get to the next level, and surely, he appreciates Gonsolin’s efforts last night, as he took it right to a young, upstart team that has surprised several people this season.
Perhaps he sees this as a turning point in Gonsolin’s career as he makes the transition from reliever to starter.
He’s pitching like an ace right now and is looking like a guy who can hold a candle to the abilities of even Walker Buehler and Julio Urias.
Gonsolin is slowly turning himself into a solid starter who can give a team multiple innings and keep the game close.
We’ll see what’s next for Gonsolin.
