The Los Angeles Dodgers may have the second-best record in the National League, but they might be headed for a bit of a rough stretch.
Yesterday, Chris Taylor crashed into the wall in left field and was forced to exit the game.
Staff ace Walker Buehler also suffered an elbow injury that manager Dave Roberts says will keep him out for a good chunk of time.
On top of that, the Dodgers were swept by their division rival San Francisco Giants over the weekend and saw their lead in the NL West trimmed down to a half-game over the San Diego Padres and 3.5 over the Giants.
But one Dodgers insider points out that there are still a few positives to take out of this recent tough stretch.
Despite a 4-9 stretch and getting swept by the Giants, there is some good news for the Dodgers
• They’ve remained in 1st place in the NL West
• They have 3 off-days over the next 8 days— Blake Harris (@BlakeHarrisTBLA) June 13, 2022
Positive Signs
It is good for the Dodgers that they remain in first place in the NL West, especially with all the stiff competition they’re facing right now.
Tough stretches happen for every ballclub, even those as good as the Dodgers.
But a couple of off days could help them reset a little bit and get back in the right frame of mind.
This is still a very good team, even with Buehler down.
They’ll certainly be a team to watch come the trade deadline.
They’ll be one of the teams in the mix for a starting pitcher to fill the void left by Buehler’s elbow injury.
They just happen to have hit a bit of a rough patch right now, and that’s something that they can overcome easily thanks to the depth of their roster.
We’ll see if a couple of off days can help them hit the reset button and get re-focused.
