The 2022 MLB season got off to a late start and fans had to endure a long, grueling lockout.
Yet some of the top franchises in the sport are still reporting good attendance numbers in the early part of the 2022 season.
While the Oakland Athletics report all-time lows in attendance, the Los Angeles Dodgers, the St. Louis Cardinals, the Atlanta Braves, the San Diego Padres, and the New York Yankees have been among the leaders.
“MLB attendance leaders (average per game) Dodgers: 49,255. Cardinals: 38,604. Braves: 37,611. Padres: 37,079. Yankees: 36,424,” Dodgers beat writer Blake Harris tweeted.

The rankings at the top are not surprising at all.
Dodgers Fans Have Repeatedly Shown Their Support In 2022
The Dodgers fans have shown repeatedly over the last few years that they fill the stadium night in and night out.
The Cardinals fans are loyal and passionate, and now, they are enjoying the last season of Albert Pujols (which has also had an impact on attendance numbers).
Even though Freddie Freeman is no longer in town, the Braves remain a top team in the NL East, and fans have acted in accordance.
The Padres have been red-hot as of late and actually share the NL West’s top spot with the Dodgers with a 20-10 record; and fans have shown their support so far.
Last in the top five are the Yankees, the most historically relevant franchise in baseball, with some of the most passionate fans in the sport.
The Dodgers, however, comfortably hold the top spot in attendance so far in 2022, with a healthy difference over the second-placed Cardinals.
They are the most forward-thinking and resourceful franchise in MLB, and fans certainly enjoy watching them play.
