For the first time since 2019, the Arizona Diamondbacks have managed to win a series against the vaunted Los Angeles Dodgers.
With a 3-1 home victory on Wednesday afternoon, the Diamondbacks finally broke out of the rut they were in against the Dodgers.
Starter Zac Gallen fired six scoreless innings while allowing just two hits and striking out five.
Though the Dodgers rallied late to tie the game, Arizona came up with two runs in response to take the lead and stay ahead in order to finish off the series win.
Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo was pleased with the results.
“They’ve been clobbering us,” Lovullo said of the Dodgers.

D’Backs Send Dodgers Packing
It’s been a long time coming, but the Diamondbacks finally have a series win against the Dodgers.
For a team that doesn’t appear to be in the mix for contention in 2022, this is a big step.
The Dodgers on paper probably have the best team in all of baseball.
But the D’Backs were not phased by the challenge.
They set the tone early with Gallen’s dominance and even handed one of their former pitchers, Daniel Hudson, the loss.
Could this be their first major step towards relevance again?
Maybe.
The Colorado Rockies started off the season with a series win over the Dodgers, and they’ve played pretty well for most of this month, sitting just 2.5 games back of the San Francisco Giants with a 10-8 record.
You never know.
But it’s a good start to say the least.
Winning a series against the Dodgers is something that seems few and far between, but Arizona managed to pull it off.
If they can pull off such a feat, so can other teams.
