The Arizona Diamondbacks may turn out to be everybody’s favorite sleeper team in 2022.
After an absolutely horrendous 2021 season in which they finished 50-112 and landed at the bottom of the National League West division, they look to be turning the corner this season.
Ever since splitting a four-game series at Busch Stadium against the St. Louis Cardinals, they appear to be taking some steps towards becoming relevant again.
Manager Torey Lovullo has steered them to a 17-14 start this season.
They’re only 4.5 games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL West.
One Diamondbacks fan page tweeted that this is the first time the team has been three or more games over .500 since the final day of the 2019 regular season, when they finished 85-77.
With their win tonight, the #Dbacks improve to 17-14.
The last time the Dbacks were 3 games above .500 (or better) was the last day of the 2019 season, when they finished 85-77.

Snakes Ready To Contend
It’s been a while, but Arizona fans may finally have something to cheer about.
It hasn’t exactly been smooth sailing since they traded away Paul Goldschmidt.
Now, they’ve brought themselves closer to contention and are not too far out of a playoff spot.
It’s hard to believe it’s been since 2019 that they were last in contention.
But now, they are a young upstart team with a ton of potential and upside.
They’re a sneaky contender, if anything right now.
Every team in the NL West has a winning record, including the last-place Colorado Rockies, who the D’Backs overlapped last night with their 9-3 win over the Miami Marlins.
This is a team that looks like it is ready to become relevant again and a team that could surprise a lot of people as we move towards the midpoint of the 2022 season.
We’ll see if they can keep pace with everybody else in the NL West.
