The day is here.
Derek Carr‘s run with the Las Vegas Raiders is officially over.
Carr was benched for the final two games of the season as Jarrett Stidham took over as the starting quarterback, and that essentially signaled the end of an era for the Raiders.
On Thursday morning, Carr penned an emotional goodbye letter to the Raiders and the fans and posted it on his Twitter page:

There is a lot to unpack from this goodbye, but here’s one notable part: “That fire burning inside of me to win a championship still rages…So I look forward to a new city and a new team who, no matter the circumstance, will get everything I have. Winning a championship is what I’ve always wanted and will continue to work towards.”
After a terrific career at Fresno State, Carr was selected in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft and has spent his entire NFL career in a Raiders uniform.
The issues in Las Vegas (and Oakland) weren’t always Carr’s fault, but he struggled in 2022 in the first year with Josh McDaniels as head coach.
Carr threw for 3,522 yards with 24 touchdowns and 14 interceptions as Las Vegas finished with a 6-11 record despite landing Davante Adams in the offseason — Carr’s college teammate.
Now, Carr is moving on, and there should be an extremely fluid market for him.
A few teams interested could be the New York Jets, Indianapolis Colts, and perhaps the Tampa Bay Buccaneers depending on what happens with Tom Brady.
