Derek Carr will be a Las Vegas Raider again, at least, for one night.
After a last-minute Pro Bowl selection, Carr took to Twitter to express his thoughts on the matter.
😂😂😂😂
Well… maybe this invitation got lost in the mail from past seasons but I'm going back to pro bowl #4. See you soon Vegas!— Derek Carr (@derekcarrqb) January 31, 2023
Albeit in an unorthodox way, this is Carr’s fourth Pro Bowl selection.
He was selected to the Pro Bowl in three-straight seasons, from 2015-2017.
Unless something unforeseen happens in the next few months, Carr will be taking his last snap as a member of the Raiders, even though it will be in an unofficial capacity.
The Pro Bowl is an event that has received mixed reviews over the past several years, especially in consideration of how players are chosen for the festivities.
Carr will join Tyler Huntley and Trevor Lawrence as the quarterback representatives from the AFC in this game.
Where Carr will play in 2023 still remains to be seen.
He has made it abundantly clear that he wants out of the Raiders organization, and will look to start fresh elsewhere.
Although there are plenty of quarterback-needy teams, Carr’s contract could be to his detriment, given that a new team would need to pay him $32 million in 2023, and $41 million in 2024 and 2025.
However, if a team believes that Carr is the only missing piece to their organization, that is a small price to pay if it means bringing a new team to the Super Bowl, something Carr has yet to do in his career.
The next few months should be telling, in terms of where Carr’s NFL journey will take him.
