In last night’s Thursday Night Football matchup with the Los Angeles Rams, Derek Carr and the Las Vegas Raiders had difficulty moving the football, particularly, through the air.
In the entire game, Carr’s stat line was 11/20, with 137 yards, no touchdowns, and two interceptions.
126 of those yards came in the first half.
Derek Carr had 11 passing yards in the second half.

Carr’s 11 passing yards in the second half came on the heels of just six attempts.
On a team that features talented playmakers Davante Adams, Josh Jacobs, and Mack Hollins, it’s difficult to win football games when you only throw the ball six times in a singular half.
The Raiders were relatively effective with their run game last night, gaining 165 yards on 38 rushing attempts.
However, in a close game, an offense must throw the football, breaking up the defense and throwing them off guard.
A Statistical Anomaly
Last night’s performance of 137 passing yards marked the third game of the 2022 campaign in that Carr recorded fewer than 200 passing yards.
This was also the third game of the season that Carr did not throw a touchdown pass.
Carr hasn’t had this low passing yardage and touchdowns since 2018, when he had six games with fewer than 200 passing yards, and six games with zero touchdowns.
Let’s see if Carr can turn it around next week when the Raiders face off against the New England Patriots, a team that he is historically bad against.
In his career, Carr is 0-3 against the Patriots, and only averages 224 passing yards against them, and a passer rating of just 80.8.
