The Chicago Bulls looked like they were going to the NBA Finals last season.
They were red-hot for much of the regular season and were able to beat practically every team in the league at least once.
But then bad luck, injuries, and some fatigue got the best of them and the Bulls ended up having a ho-hum postseason and didn’t even come close to the Finals.
DeMar DeRozan did some of everything tonight. 🔥

Still, there were some consistently impressive parts of the team through it all, including DeMar DeRozan.
DeRozan was having a MVP-caliber season during his first year with the Bulls, averaging 27.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.9 assists.
They will need numbers like that from him again in the new season if they wish to get even further than last year.
So far, he is showing that he’s picking up where he left off.
In a Sunday night preseason game, DeRozan scored 21 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists, and even had 3 steals too.
He was showing himself as the team’s best player and its leader – again.
DeRozan Doing Things
There is no doubt that DeRozan will be the most important player for the Bulls in 2022-23.
He has quickly come into the center of the team and become their focal point and heart and soul.
There’s good reason for that too, he’s playing like a man with a newfound desire and drive.
He has been open about the fact that much of the league had written him off during his time with the San Antonio Spurs.
Therefore, his move to Chicago was a chance at redemption and you can feel his desire to prove the critics wrong every time he takes to the court.
Revenge is very sweet for DeRozan – but a championship ring would be sweeter.
