Throughout last season, DeMar DeRozan of the Chicago Bulls was talked about as a possible MVP candidate.
Sure enough, the man averaged 27.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.9 assists.
In the end, injuries and setbacks took the Bulls down but last season really did cement DeRozan was one of the most important and talented players in the league.
But it was a different league he was dominating this weekend.

DeRozan played alongside LeBron James during Saturday’s Drew League game in Los Angeles.
A lot of media attention has been understandably centered on James’ return to the Drew League but people shouldn’t forget how well DeRozan did too.
He put up 30 points and an astounding 14 rebounds in the victory.
It’s not every day that fans get to see him play like this.
DeRozan Back Home
DeRozan was returning to his roots on Saturday as he played in southern California.
The player was born and raised in Compton and went to school at USC.
Because of that, many fans predicted that he’d play for the Los Angeles Lakers, his hometown team.
For a brief moment during the last offseason, it sounded like that was possible.
But the Lakers instead pursued Russell Westbrook and DeRozan moved to Chicago.
Obviously, there are many Lakers faithful who wish things went differently.
But DeRozan seems really happy – and successful – in Chicago and there is little chance he wants to leave as the team gets better and better and their chances of making the Finals increase.
DeRozan is the heart and soul of the current Chicago team and definitely its leader.
His performance during Saturday’s Drew League game was just a small example of just how great he really is.
