Deebo Samuel Deletes Tweet Calling Out The Media

The San Francisco 49ers must prepare for life after Deebo Samuel.

The wide receiver from South Carolina requested a trade after canceling contract extension talks with the team.

Samuel is in the final year of his rookie contract, but the 49ers couldn’t give him a fifth-year option because he was drafted in the second round.

After a breakout season in 2021, he will be a hot commodity on the trading block.

Therefore, San Francisco could get excellent returns from trading their top wideout.

Even if they get a nice package, it’s uncertain if the Niners could compensate for the impact he has in every game.

But while it’s already established that Samuel wants a trade, his reasons are still unclear.

Furthermore, he accuses the media of fabricating stories in a now-deleted tweet.

Deebo Samuel’s now-deleted tweet says only he, his agent and the #49ers know what’s really happening. Samuel told @JeffDarlington he requested a trade. That part is not in question. The reason(s) for the request is (are) not known at this point. pic.twitter.com/1vk4gXxqOO

NBC Sports Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco tweeted, “Deebo Samuel’s now-deleted tweet says only he, his agent, and the #49ers know what’s really happening. Samuel told @JeffDarlington he requested a trade. That part is not in question. The reason(s) for the request is (are) not known at this point.”

Maiocco also included a screenshot of Samuel’s tweet, saying, “Reporters jobs is to make stories only people know the truth about situation is 49ers @ToryDandy and Deebo Samuel.”

Dandy is connected with CAA Sports as Samuel’s agent.

Will Samuel Share The Real Reason Soon?

Typically, players ask for a trade because they don’t feel like being part of the team or a relationship goes sour.

What’s coming out is that Samuel asked for a trade because he doesn’t like how he is being used on offense.

He would like to be a full-time wide receiver if he had his way.

If that’s his only concern, perhaps the 49ers can still save their relationship by adjusting his role.

After all, Samuel focusing as a receiver will still do wonders for the team.
