Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Darius Slay had the improbable task of defending Justin Jefferson in Week 2 of the 2022 NFL season.
The Minnesota Vikings wide receiver wasn’t just any other player because he has achieved a lot in his first two seasons.
Jefferson set the record for most receiving yards in a single season for a rookie with 1,400 yards, only to be broken by his former college teammate Ja’Marr Chase a season later.
However, the former LSU standout raised his game during his second season by tallying 1,616 yards and ten touchdowns.
Those numbers made him a two-time Second-Team All-Pro and two-time Pro Bowler.
Jefferson also had the momentum after finishing with nine passes for 184 yards and two touchdowns in their season-opening win over the Green Bay Packers.
However, Slay rose to the occasion and neutralized one of the game’s wideouts today.

Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins ended the game with 27 completions out of 46 attempts for 221 yards, a touchdown, and three interceptions.
Meanwhile, Jefferson had six catches for 48 yards, a far cry from his Week 1 performance.
Great Effort By The Eagles Defense
Slay wasn’t the only bright spot for Philadelphia against the Vikings.
Avonte Maddox also had four tackles and an interception.
Meanwhile, Josh Sweat and Fletcher Cox had one sack each.
T.J. Edwards also led the squad with seven tackles.
After allowing 35 points in Week 1, the Eagles also went in the right direction by limiting Minnesota to one touchdown catch by Irv Smith Jr. and an extra point.
The Eagles will have a chance to go 3-0 by defeating the Washington Commanders on September 25.
