Throughout the NBA Bubble, Danny Green wasn’t what Laker fans were expecting.
The three-time NBA Champ was apart of the 2019 Toronto Raptors championship team and played a key role in the NBA Finals.
Green is known for being a defensive wing who can hit the 3-point shot.
The Lakers signed him to a 2 year, $30 million deal in the offseason hoping he can help them in their quest of their 17th NBA title.
Well, the Lakers are now the champs, but it wasn’t all pretty for Green in the NBA Bubble.
He struggled from the 3-point line and the trolls came for his head.
Despite that, Green feels he doesn’t owe anything to Lakers fans.
Do Not Expect An Apology From Danny Green
In Game 5 of the NBA Finals, with just seconds remaining on the clock, the Lakers were trailing.
LeBron James attacked the rim, faced a double team and kicked it to the top of the key where Danny Green was wide open behind the three-point.
As he rose for the shot, Heat fans all around the world were holding their breathe.
Green clanked the shot and the Heat went onto force a Game 6.
After the game, the troll mafia targeted Green and it went so far as Lakers fans created a petition for Green to not receive a championship ring if the Lakers went on to win the title.
Recently, Green appeared on The Ringer NBA Show, and had the following to say:
“You know human nature of fans, they’re just very emotional. They take the game very serious and they see us as performers and if we’re not performing the way we’re supposed to then we’re not to apologize for it. No, I don’t owe you an apology. Whether I played shitty or not. You’re not my boss, coach, and I’m not gonna apologize for missing shots. I’ll apologize to my teammates for missed mistakes, missed assignments, if I mess up a play or defensively don’t make a rotation. But no, I don’t owe you anything.”
The three-time NBA Champ is right.
Why Danny Green Received So Much Heat From Fans

This probably isn’t how the Lakers wanted their last half-court possession to go… 😬

After the missed shot, fans took it to the extreme sending death threats to Green and his finance.
Also, remember, on this same night, Snoop Dogg went after Danny Green criticizing him for missing the open look and not playing up to expectations.
Snoop probably doesn’t remember any of that now as the Lakers are World Champs.
Regardless, Danny Green gets the last laugh as he is now a back-to-back champ and a three time NBA Champion.
Unfortunately for Green, he has found himself in the center of multiple trade rumors.
Many aren’t sure if he will be apart of this Lakers roster next season.
