The New York Mets are coming into the season riding high after a busy offseason.
They are a team that could potentially benefit from the new rules MLB has put in place, particularly the larger bases.
On player in particular thinks that he will benefit greatly from the bases being enlarged.
Designated hitter and outfielder Daniel Vogelbach is not known for his speed, with more focus being put on his power from the left side of the plate.
However, Vogelbach believes that he will be able to swipe some bags in 2023.
On Twitter, MLB posted a hilarious commercial with voiceovers from Vogelbach and his manager Buck Showalter, as they discuss the larger base sizes.
With bigger bases, even Daniel Vogelbach is thinking about stealing a base – much to Buck Showalter’s surprise. 😂 pic.twitter.com/XOqz2IPFHT

The video starts with Vogelbach thinking in his head about how the bases are much bigger.
The camera then pans to Showalter, who questions if his slugger is paying attention to the size of the new bases.
Vogelbach then makes a critical decision, saying that he intends to steal second base.
Showalter looks back into the Mets dugout with an almost disgusted look on his face, wondering if Vogelbach of all people is planning on stealing second.
The two then go back and forth, with Vogelbach expressing how long he has waited to swipe a bag and Showalter countering by saying that in his brief seven-year career, he has never stolen a single base.
Showalter then tells Vogelbach not to steal, with the slugger giving him a thumbs up, signaling that he will in fact be stealing.
The video ends with Vogelbach saying that the pitcher isn’t looking, while Showalter puts his head down in shame and hilariously states that he is not looking either.
