Since allegedly demanding a trade from the Portland Trail Blazers a few weeks ago, Damian Lillard hasn’t commented publicly about it.
He has created some ambiguous and vague social media posts but hasn’t actually confirmed that he wants to leave the Blazers – until now.
According to Marc Spears, via NBACentral, Lillard actually did address his desire to leave Portland.
“I can say that there was [a trade request] and I would just prefer not to speak on the Trail Blazers,” Lillard said.
And that was all Lillard had to say.

People expecting any more statements about the trade from Lillard will likely be disappointed.
It’s unlikely that he will get into the specifics of the trade request or his plans for the future.
That’s because Lillard has never been one to share much about himself but also because he could be fined by the league if he opens up more.
His statement doesn’t shed light on much, it simply reveals that Lillard really does want to leave the team.
Hearing it straight from his mouth is tough for Blazers fans, but there is still a chance he will be in Portland when the new season starts.
If all the reports are to be believed, Lillard wants to play for the Miami Heat.
But the Blazers haven’t been interested in what Miami has to offer.
They could refuse Lillard’s request for a trade and retain him into the new season.
A few weeks ago, that seemed unlikely.
But lately, the possibility of it happening has grown.
Maybe someday Lillard will open up more about the specifics of his trade request.
But for now, he is staying mostly quiet.
