For years, people have talked about how Damian Lillard has outgrown the Portland Trail Blazers and how he should request a trade to finally fulfill his potential.
The Blazers haven’t reached the NBA Finals since the 90s, and this team is a ways away from being a legit contender.
However, that hasn’t taken a toll on Lillard’s game whatsoever, as he continues to set franchise records and climb his way up the NBA ladder night in and night out.
He did just that again in Monday’s night win over the San Antonio Spurs, reaching the seventh spot on the league’s all-time list of three-pointers made (2,283).
Lillard is just seven triples away from tying the legendary Vince Carter, with James Harden (third — 2,675), and Stephen Curry (first — 3,270) as the only other two active players in the top seven right now.

But then again, it seems like Lillard will have to choose and make a decision at some point in his career.
He’s never going to make the NBA Finals in Portland; that’s just a fact, and there is no shortage of teams interested in his services, should he become available.
Lillard is making generational money in Rip City, so moving him wouldn’t be an easy task in terms of matching salaries.
But he’s the kind of elite shooter and scorer that could turn a team like the Lakers into a massive threat out of the Western Conference.
And truth be told, it’s kind of sad to watch him waste his talents on a team that’s not going anywhere.
