Chicago White Sox southpaw Dallas Keuchel is far from the pitcher he was in the mid-2010s, when he won a Cy Young award and could dominate virtually any lineup.
He entered Wednesday with a 5.40 ERA this season, after allowing three earned runs in five innings during his first game.
But today, things unraveled quickly for him and the White Sox.
At the moment of writing this piece, the White Sox were down 10-0 to the Cleveland Guardians in the middle of the third inning.
The teams are playing a doubleheader on Wednesday, after Tuesday’s game was postponed because of the weather.
The White Sox’s defense has committed five errors in a sloppy showing, and Keuchel has been horrific in his own right.
He could only pitch one inning, in which he allowed 10 hits (!) and 10 runs, eight of which were earned.
10-0 Cleveland. 5 errors for the White Sox. Dallas Keuchel is done.
This has been a disaster.

Keuchel Was Awful And The Defense Didn’t Help
It was his worst outing in quite a while, perhaps in his whole career.
He simply had nothing on the ball to fool the Guardians’ hitters, and his defense didn’t help him at all.
As a result of the terrible outing, his season ERA now jumps to 16.50, and his WHIP is a horrible 2.83.
At 34 years old, he seems to be nothing more than a backend starter, and he will look awful on some days.
Wednesday was, without a doubt, one of those days.
Keuchel had a 5.28 ERA in 162 innings last season, which was likely an unintentional announcement that his days as a reliable starter are a thing of the past.
The Guardians certainly took advantage of the sloppy pitching and defense by the White Sox and made sure to inflict as much damage on the scoreboard as possible.
