The Chicago Cubs have three World Series championships in their long, rich history.
Two of them came in 1907 and 1908.
Fans had to wait decades for the third one.
However, it was definitely worth the wait.
“6 years ago, the @Cubs ended the drought,” MLB Vault tweeted.

On this day, but in 2016, Cubs fans were finally able to celebrate.
It was, in addition, one of the most exciting Game 7s in the history of the World Series, and that’s saying a lot.
It included blown saves, lead changes, home runs, exciting defensive plays, and two extremely competitive teams.
The Cleveland Indians, also in the middle of a drought, lost the series in a heart-breaking way but earned the respect of millions of fans around the world.
The Cubs, on the other hand, went home with the trophy for the first time in 108 years.
Bye-Bye Drought!
Generations and generations of fans came and went without watching their team win it all.
But that Cubs team was special: they were the chosen ones.
Anthony Rizzo, Kris Bryant, Jon Lester, Jake Arrieta, Kyle Schwarber, Jason Heyward, and other stars joined forces to bring joy to half of the city.
It’s also worth noting that the Cubs came from 3-1 down in the series, and that they won Game 7 in Cleveland.
The odds were definitely against them, but they found a way to fight back.
That 2016 World Series is the perfect proof that a series isn’t over until a team has won the four games.
That generation of Cubs players made three straight Championship Series between 2015 and 2017, but has already disbanded.
They are now rebuilding and hoping to have days as happy as they were on November 2, 2016.
