Cristian Javier of the Houston Astros will have a place in baseball history.
He was involved in not one, but two no-hitters this year, one of which came at the biggest stage: the World Series.
Last night, Javier pitched six hitless innings with two walks and nine strikeouts, leading the way in a pivotal win for his team to tie the Fall Classic at two wins per side.
He paved the way for Bryan Abreu, Rafael Montero, and Ryan Pressly to complete the feat against the Philadelphia Phillies.
Javier was also the starter in the Astros’ other combined no-no this year, which took place on June 25 against the New York Yankees.
The National Baseball Hall of Fame will proudly receive a ball from last night’s start to keep the one from June company.
The First Pitcher In History To Start Two Combined No-Hitters
“With last night’s historic #WorldSeries game, Cristian Javier became the first pitcher in history to start two combined no-hitters. A ball from the @astros June no-no, already here in Cooperstown, will soon be joined by a ball from yesterday’s start,” the Hall Museum account tweeted.

In that June outing, Javier threw seven no-hit frames and was relieved by Hector Neris in the eighth.
Pressly closed things out in the ninth to seal the historic game.
A no-hitter is not something you see everyday, whether it is combined or achieved by just one pitcher.
To be involved in two in the same season, and one in the World Series, must feel good for Javier and Pressly.
If the Astros have made it this far, it’s in large part because of them.
They are now, just like the Phillies, two wins away from celebrating.
