The Dallas Cowboys and their fanbase have been desperate for a deep playoff run, and ultimately, a Super Bowl victory.
After losing to the San Francisco 49ers in the divisional round of the playoffs in 2022, many have wondered what this team is missing.
Whether it’s the coaching staff, the quarterback, or a combination of multiple factors, the Cowboys are looking for a spark.
In a recent video shared by NFL Rookie Watch, the Cowboys’ first-round pick this season, Mazi Smith, provided an offseason spark.
Mazi Smith is built DIFFERENT in the weight room.
To start, Smith does 22 reps on the bench press, but with 325 pounds instead of 225.
Smith’s max bench press is 550 pounds.
Aaron Donald does 500.

In this video, Smith demonstrates his strength, moving 800 pounds of weight on a machine.
As the NFL Rookie Watch page points out, Smith bench presses 50 more pounds than Aaron Donald.
Smith was a highly-regarded defensive tackle prospect, and will now get a chance to play for one of the NFL’s most historic franchises.
He’ll have an opportunity to join a defense with the likes of Micah Parsons, Leighton Vander Esch, and Trevon Diggs.
With any luck, Smith’s skillset will prove to be exactly what this team is looking for as they look to win the NFC East for the second time in three years.
The division was won by the Philadelphia Eagles last season, and the Cowboys were slotted in right behind them.
The New York Giants also made the playoffs last year, meaning the division sent three representatives to the postseason.
Whether that happens again is largely contingent on how the Cowboys are able to start the year, and if players like Smith can make an immediate impact.
